Rhythm and Rhyme
(ages 4 1/2 to 5)
Children learn elements
of music while they
improvise, explore sound
and move.  Students are
introduced to the Orff
tone bar instruments and
taught proper techniques
for playing many types of percussion.  Language, rhythm,
and melody are used to weave musical stories.  Two
semesters of song materials are thematically organized
with 15 lessons per semester.  Parent participation
required, and students may take 1 or both semesters.  
Keyboard Musician
After completing either the
Harmony Road, Young Musician, or
Keyboard Prep course, students
move into this advanced course
which encompasses 4 books.  
Continued emphasis is on playing
piano repertoire in addition to
mastering the  musicianship skills of composing, transposing,
accompanying, and arranging music.  Registration is by the semester
with 16 - 17 weeks per semester.
                        Keyboard Prep
              
   (8 to 12 year-old beginning students)
               The   Keyboard Prep course is designed                              
                         for children ages 8 - 12 who are                                 
                         studying music for the first time.  This                       
                         motivating program develops the                                 
                         student's basic musicianship skills through ear
training, rhythmic training, solfege singing, keyboard performance
and writing music.  Parent involvement encouraged.  This course has 3
books and can be completed in 4 semesters.  Registration is by the
semester with each semester lasting 16 - 17 weeks.
                                 Toddler Tunes
                               
   (18 months to 3 years)
                                                 A joyful early music                          
                                                  experience.  Tots and parents
                                                 share in a music-making program
                                                 of rhythms, fingerplays,                   
                                                  active movement games,                    
                                                  keyboard exploration and singing.     
                                                  Each session lasts 6 weeks with 6
sessions of song material available.  Registration is by the session.    
Babies Make Music
(Birth to 18 months)
Babies and parents experience
rhythmic musical games, lullabies,
bouncing songs, and massage songs.
Designed to help parents give their
babies a rich musical environment,
it is a springboard to stimulate daily
music-making.  Each session is 6 weeks.
Music in Me / More Music in Me
(ages 3 1/2 to 4)
Music in Me and More Music in Me are
each one semester classes with 15
lessons per semester - dynamic
readiness programs for young children
with emphasis on ear training, solfege
singing, movement, keyboard activities,
pitch and rhythm awareness.  Creativity
is stressed.  Parent involvement in class
and at home required.  
                        Harmony Road
      (             (ages 5 - 6, beginning piano)
                                The Harmony Road course is              
                                 carefully constructed for                    
                                 children to learn the basic                  
                                 building blocks of music.                     
                                 Emphasis is on ear training, solfege
singing, keyboard playing, ensemble and rhythm activities,
movement and music creativity.  This course progresses
through 4 books and gives the student "inner hearing,"
which makes transposing, improvisation, and composing
easily accessible in their musical studies.  Parent
involvement in class and at home is required.   The course
takes about 5 semesters (16 - 17 lessons per semester) to
complete and registration is by the semester.  
Kids Make Music
(ages 3 to young 4's)
A creative music course that explores
the beginnings of rhythm and melody
with emphasis on percussion, singing,
and piano exploration. Listening skills
and pitch matching are developed
using games, stories, puppets, and
props.  Parent participation required.
Kids Make Music lessons are arranged
into 2 semesters with 15 lessons per
semester, with the option of taking one or both.
Young Musician
(6 & 7 year-old beginning students)
The Young Musician course spans 4
books and introduces beginning
students to keyboard performance
and note reading in a holistic
program, including the organized
development of pitch, rhythm,
solfege singing, keyboard and
movement activities.  Parent
involvement in class and at home.  
This course also takes 5 semesters to
complete / registration by semester.
Piano lessons
Piano lessons are available for the graduates of the Keyboard
Musician
course in a combination of weekly private lessons,
monthly group lessons, and computer lab time.  For those who
desire to participate, opportunities for solo performances in
regional and state festivals and auditions are provided.  
Registration is by the year.   
Adult Group Piano - Piano Street Books 1,2, and 3
Group piano study is available for adults and older teens who desire
to learn how to play to piano, or who want a refresher course from
previous studies.  These are scheduled on an as-needed basis and
registration is by the semester.  
Summer Classes
Toddler Tunes - Toddlers Make Music
(18 months - 3 years)
Tots and parents share in a
music-making program of rhythms,
fingerplays, active movement games,
keyboard exploration, and singing.  
Classes meet for 30 minutes weekly for
6 weeks in June and July.
Musictime and Hello Music
(ages 3 and 4)
Taught in alternating
summers,
Musictime & Hello
Music
are each 4-week
classes for children and
their parents.  Each
45-minute class includes
games and songs to teach
eartraining, solfege singing,
movement, keyboard
activities, pitch and rhythm
awareness.
Junior Music Camps
(ages 4 - 6)
Junior Music Camps are music
exposure and exploration programs
which meet for two hours daily for
one week.  Students will participate
in singing, movement, rhythm, and
craft activities that are thematic
with classical music selections
highlighted throughout the camps.  
Exploration of the percussion and
mallet instruments is also included.  
Parent participation is not required.
Senior Music Camp   (ages 7 - 10)
Senior Music Camp is a music exploration program designed to
emphasize rhythmic training with percussion and mallet
instruments.  Improvisation and creativity are key components of
this camp, along with singing and movement, with a culminating
class project which will be performed for the parents on the final
day of camp.  The camp meets for two hours daily for 4 days.
Young Musician and Keyboard Prep Classes
(for beginning piano students)
Young Musician classes are for students ages 6 - 7 who are
interested in learning to play the piano as well as developing skills
in note reading, eartraining, solfege singing, rhythmic awareness,
and movement activities.  The
Keyboard Prep class is similar
except that it is designed for children ages 8 - 11 or 12.  Students
meet for 8 weeks for 55 minutes each week.  Parents are
required to attend with the
Young Musician class, and encouraged
to attend with the
Keyboard Prep student.  A piano or keyboard
for practice at home is required.
